UK Court Jails Ekweremadu, Wife, Physician over Organ Harvesting

Former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has been sentenced to prison for 9 years, 8 months by the UK Court.

Also convicted are his wife, Beatrice, and one Dr. Obeta

According to Old Bailey, London’s Central Criminal Court, Mrs Ekweremadu was handed a four years and six months term while their middleman, Dr. Obinna Obeta was handed 10 years jail term.

The judgement was passed by the judge. Mr Justice Jeremy Johnson.

Ekweremadu, 60, his wife, Beatrice, 56 and Obeta, 51, were convicted of conspiracy to arrange the travel of a young man, named David Nwamini to Britain in order to exploit him for his kidney, which was needed for transplant to Sonia, sick daughter of the senator.

Senator Ekweremadu, his wife and their medical doctor, were found guilty of violating the Modern Slavery Act after  six weeks trial and conviction at the Old Bailey, London’s Central Criminal Court.
