Tinubu: Why I Suspended Emefiele 

Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu has revealed why the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele was suspended from office.

Emefiele has since June 10, been in the cusdtody of  of the Department of State Security (DSS) following his suspension by the president.

Given the clarification in Paris, capital of France on Friday, during a two-day conference, President Tinubu said the reason behind Emefiele’s suspension was because Nigeria’s financial system was destroyed under the suspended CBN boss. 

According to Tinubu, “The country’s financial system was “rotten” under the ex-bank chief.

“Then the financial system was rotten,” Mr Tinubu’s office quoted him as saying at the event.

“Few people make bags of our money and then you yourself, you stopped sending money home to our poor parents. Several windows… but that is gone now, is gone.

“The man is in the hands of authorities, something is being done about that, they will sort themselves out.”
