Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District (APC), Sen. Ned Nwoko has defeated other senators to emerge the winner of Best Performing Senator of the Year in the 2025 edition of Democracy Heroes Award.
THISDAY report noted that in online voting, Nwoko secured 4,685 votes, representing the 29% of votes cast to lift the trophy, beating Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State, Sen. Sunday Karimi from Kogi State, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari from Zamfara, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu from Abia state and Sen. Tokunbo Abiru.
The total votes cast was released on Saturday by the organizers of the award, Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN).
Democracy Heroes Award recognizes political leaders for their contributions in deepening the culture of democracy in the country through impactful projects.
It also recognizes entrepreneurs, business and entertainers whose contributions have helped in entrenching stability through job creation, youth empowerment and poverty alleviation measures.
The Project Director FDN, Olufunsho Ajagbonna aka Fajag while congratulating winners of the awards said the organization will continue to encourage excellent performance by recognising those who have distinguished themselves in serving the people.
Ned Nwoko, a former member of the House of Representatives has been rated one of the best performing Senators, largely on the account of quality and relevance of the projects he has embarked upon and quality of bills he has initiated at the Senate.
Among other things, he sponsored bills for the creation of Anioma State, Bill for an Act to Alter the Nigerian Defence Academy Act, Diaspora Voting Bill, Nigeria Social Security Agency Bill and others.
He will be presented with his award at the grand finale at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja on 16th October 2025
