President Buhari sacks CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
This is coming after several outcry by the public, calling for his resignation shortly after purchasing the N100m form of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The CBN governor has been engulfed in controversies following in ambition of becoming the next president of Nigeria and refusal to resign his position before contesting.
Earlier, President Buhari had ordered all political appointees seeking to contest in the 2023 general elections to resign.
Rather than complying, Emefiele approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and APC from disqualifying him from contesting.
Although he later withdrew the case from the court but that did not save him as Buhari was said to have been angered by Emefiele’s audacity.
