Political Conflict Renders ex-Varsity Staff Hospitalised, Others Missing

A former staff of the University of Benin, Mr Felix Omosigho and some members of his family are counting the cost of politics following an attack allegedly unleashed on them at their residence on November 4, 2023.
Reports say the Omosigho’s family home at No. 4, Osazuwa street, off Uwelu Road ,Benin City ,was invaded by unknown gunmen on the fateful day.
It was gathered that the attack may not be unconnected with politics as it happened few hours after his son Henry Omosigho on the 4 of November declared his intention to run for the Edo State 2024 Governorship election under the platform of the Labour Party.
Both father and son had been active members of the All Progressive Congress until when they decided to cross carpet to the Labour Party.
Mr Omosigho’s wife, Mrs Bridget Omosigho, while narrating the family’s ordeal, called on the law enforcement agencies to do all they can to bring the perpetrators to book and also protect the family as they now live in fears.
At the time of filling in this report, Mr Felix Omosigho is said to be still lying critically in the hospital bed while the whereabouts of his three children namely; Henry Omosigho, Osagbemwenorhue Omosigho, Osamudiamen Michael Omosigho, and daughter-in -law, Mrs Oghenewede Omosigho remains unknown.
