Police Community Loses AIG

For the Nigeria Police Force it was a moment of mourning as they lost one of their prestigious officers to the cold hands of death, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Alhaji Tanko Lawal Jimeta.
He was until his death, Sunday Morning, the AIG in charge of Police Zone 5, comprising Edo and Delta States of the police commands.
When the news of his death became public knowledge, it elicited positive reminiscences of his life time achievements with comments
The gallant police officer, as Town Crier News learnt, was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) situated in Ugbowo, on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 from his office at Adesuwa Grammar School Road, GRA, Benin City when his health situation became serious.
According to a source to the command, “We were all praying fervently and expecting that he will soon be discharged and allowed to go home after he must have fully recovered from the health issue only to hear this morning (Sunday, February 12th, 2023) that he had given up the ghost.
“His passage will no doubt come as a shock to many people considering that before now he had no noticeable health challenge.”
Confirming the sad news on a Police WhatsApp platform in Benin City, a Superintendent of Police (SP), Bello Kontongs, a former Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Edo State Police Command wrote: “Innalillahi Wa’innailaihi Rajeuun, We lost AIG Jimeta to cold hand of death.”
