Nigerian Correctional Service Secures Free Secondary Medical Treatment for Inmates in Edo Command Courtesy State Govt

The Nigerian Correctional Service Edo State Command in collaboration with Edo State Health Insurance Service (EDOHIS), has secured free medical treatment for inmates in Edo State Command.
The collaboration is aimed at providing secondary and specialized medical treatment for inmates that may be in need of such care which will be processed through the Edo State owned EDOHIS at no cost to the inmates nor the Correctional Service.
As part of the collaborations also, the Correctional Service is to continue to provide the basic and primary treatment for inmates within the clinics and medical facilities existing in the various Custodial Centres while any inmate in need of specialised care which may include surgery will be referred for further treatment through EDOHIS.
The Controller of Corrections, Edo State Command CCS Philomena Emehinola Esq. on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa FICMC, MFR, mni, the entire staff and inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency Godwin Obaseki and the management of the EDOHIS Team led by Dr. Rock Amego for this unique, historic and monumental achievement in health care delivery to inmates.
Emehinola. stated that while the security and well being of the inmates have always remained the priority of the Correctional Service, this very support by the Edo State Government through EDOHIS will further guarantee speedy justice delivery and aid the pursuit of inmate reformation for the good of the entire society.
The Controller called on other agencies, establishments and well meaning Nigerians to partner and support the Nigerian Correctional Service in her efforts to achieve safe, secured and humane custody of inmates while pursuing justice, inmates’ rehabilitation, reformation and eventual reintegration back into the society.
