Tragedy struck in Webuye County in Kenya as young mother of three set her house on fire, killing herself and her two children in Kenya after accusing her husband of infidelity.
The 35-year-old woman identified as Hellen Vuyanzi accused her husband, Thomas Amito of cheating on her with another woman.
Both husband and wife reportedly had a misunderstanding earlier on, which resulted in Hellen setting their matrimonial home on fire.
The unfortunate incident happened on 1st January 2022, where Hellen ended up burning herself and her two children aged four and two to death.
The Lugari Sub-County Police Commander, Bernard Ngungu, confirmed the incident and explained how it occurred.
According to Ngungu, Hellen reportedly bought petrol from a filling station to set her house ablaze.
“We had earlier counselled Vuyanzi and her spouse, Thomas Amito, after a domestic dispute arose between them. We understand that Hellen had accused Thomas of cheating on her with another woman. The two were quarrelling now and again, with the woman accusing her husband of infidelity. We didn’t expect that their issues would end tragically”,the he said.
Town Crier News however, gathered that luckily, the third child, aged 11 survived the tragic incident after jumping out of the house through a window.
Hellen’s husband was also not at home when the tragic incident happened and is devastated by the news.
Police have commenced investigations into the matter and the bodies have been deposited at the Webuye County Hospital morgue.
