Lagos BRT Driver of Ill-fated Bus-Train Accident, Apologies to Families of Victims

The driver, who drove the BRT bus that collided with a train, killing scores and injuring many has apologied to families of victims after being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) 

The driver, identified as Oluwaseun Osinbajo, is a staff of the Lagos State Ministry of Transport who drove the bus

that was involved in the incident that led to a train colliding with the bus at the PWD/ Shogunle railway line, on the Agege motor road in Lagos, on Thursday.

He appealed to victims of the accident to forgive him after reports by some survivors said the 44-year-old driver, Osinbajo, had his earpiece on while driving and ignored the directive of the Flag Officers at the rail line.

Although, the driver, blamed the incident on a mechanical fault in the bus, he was however said to be overheard narrating to some of his relatives who were waiting for him at the SCID.

“It was not my fault. How could I have ignored warning signs? The bus had a mechanical fault,” he was quoted to have said as reported in the Vanguard newspaper.

The staff bus, filled with passengers was going to the Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, from Ikotun, before the accident occured.
