Just in: kubwa market, Abuja on fire

An evening fire has reportedly gutted the popular Kubwa Village market in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, causing the death of unspecified number of persons.

The fire, which as gathered, happened on Friday evening was said to have razed down several shops in the market.

According to an eye witness close to the market, the inferno occurred when a tanker, laden with fuel exploded near the market.

The source who refused to give his name, said many corpses have been recovered from the scene, just as he disclosed that emergency operations have been mounted by officers of the Federal Fire Service and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to ensure the fire does not spread further.
