June 12: Edo Assembly Speaker Calls for Implementation of More people-oriented Policies and Programmes

Outgoing Speaker Edo state House of Assembly and Member-elect, Esan West, Esan Central, and Igueben Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc has congratulated Nigerians for celebrating another June 12, which is marked as Democracy Day.
In a special message to all Nigerians, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun ksc said with 24 years of democratic dispensation in the country, the need for more people-oriented policies and programs cannot be overemphasized.
The Speaker of the 7th Edo state House of Assembly said with the removal of subsidy and the attendant hardship and difficulties in strata of society, the need to mitigate the situation is sacrosanct.
According to the member-elect” Nigeria should be getting to a place in its Democratic dispensation where implementation of policies and programs are done with the needed and necessary action to help the people cope with these policies.”
” For the past few weeks, we have been grappling with the removal of Fuel subsidy without a backup for the end users in terms of prices of fuel, transportation cost, and its ripple effect on goods and services”.
“While some state Governments have started planning ways to ensure a reduction in the hardship faced by the populace, I particularly commend Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki who has rolled out plans to alleviate the plight of workers and school children in these trying times”
“Nigeria is blessed with human and material resources, which when harnessed would make our Nation second to none, while we pray for the Nation in these times, we remember the hero of June 12 Alhaji Moshood Abiola, who paid the supreme price for the Democracy we are enjoying”
“I congratulate Nigerians for the 24 years of uninterrupted democratic dispensation and pray for the best for this nation, in terms of leadership and followership”
