The member, representing Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal constituency, Magaji Da’u Aliyu on Thursday, narrowly escaped a mob action by the angry youths of his constituency.
The incident was said to have occured when the aggrieved youths of the constituency blocked Kukuma village road to prevent the member and his convoy from passing through the area to attend a political event.
Aliyu and other of his party officials of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), were on their way to Buji town where the lawmaker was scheduled to attend an empowerment programme he organised.
The aggrieved members who were in groups threatened to attack anyone who dared to pass through the roadblock they mounted in Kukuma town of Buji local government of the state while chanting hateful remarks on him like “Bama hi, Bama hi, Bama hi”, which simply means we don’t like you.
Speaking, one of the angry youths told Journalists the decision to boo the lawmaker was taken to register their dissatisfaction with his representation at the National Assembly.
In a report by Daily Post, the incident was confirmed by Jigawa State Police Command spokesman, Lawan Shiisu Adam.
According to Daily Post, Adam who said the incident happened when the lawmaker ran into rival support groups, one for a serving member and the other by one of the politicians who intends to contest the seat in 2023, however, noted that the situation was under control.
