Igbinedion, reps Member, others escape air disaster at benin airport


What would have amount to multiple deaths was averted as a House of Representatives member from Edo State, a daughter of business mogul, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion; Benin based Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and dozens of other, escaped air disaster.
The incident was said to have occured on Monday when passengers from the Benin Airport border a plane (name withheld) travelling to Abuja.
Town Crier News gathered that the aircraft was already on the run way when it encountered bird strike while trying to take off.
The incident as further learnt, forced the pilot not to take off, but had to manage the aircraft back to the tarmac, hence the trip was aborted for the safety of passengers on board.
According to an aviation expert, bird strike during air trips are as dangerous as bad weather.
“It takes a careful pilot to detect bird strike during air trip to discontinue the journey.
“If the pilot had to found out about the bird strike and continued the journey, it would have resulted to a serious fatality”, the expert disclosed.
