Owner of an hotel under construction, named Andrew Isesere, has reportedly died under the rubble of his collapsed building .
The incident as gathered occured at Idumoza community, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Over 20 workers at the site were said to have narrowly escaped death by the whiskers when the remains of the deceased owner was pulled out of the rubble on Sunday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the building collapsed last Friday while the owner was inside.
One of the neighbours, named Andrew Inegbebor, who spoke to journalists, said they have cautioned the owner during construction about the quality of materials used for the building constuction.
Inegbebor said: “The owner was told he was using low quality material. Instead of 16mm rods, he used 12mm rods for the pillars. There was also no base basket at the pillars. Look at the result.
“The building collapsed because of substandard materials that were used. There was no engineer on site. The dead owner supervised the building himself. The house later collapsed and killed him but some workers narrowly escaped.”
Edo Police Command Spokesman, SP. Moses Yamu, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
