Following the collapse of the Asaba-Uzere-Asa road bridge, the Delta State Governor, Dr. Idea to Okowa, has asked the contractor in charge of the project to immediately mobilised to site.
This as the Managing Director/CEO of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Bashorun Askia Ogieh, has assured quick completion of repairs of the collapsed bridge.
Bashorun Askia, who personally witnessed the handing over of the repairs to the contractor by the Director of Highways, thanked the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, for his prompt response to lessen the plight of the people following the unfortunate collapse of the bridge.
The Managing Director, was accompanied on the assessment visit by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of DESOPADEC, Engr. Lawrence Eduje; HOD, Projects Monitoring, Engr. Oghale Efe-Aluta; the Vice Chairman, Isoko South LGA, Hon. Blessing Uzoge; and his Technical Assistant, Barr. Ewomazino Duku.
Meanwhile, the State Director of Highways, Delta State Ministry of Works, Engr. Joshua Egube, advised the immediate mobilisation to the site as directed by the Governor.
Egube said, “I was at the collapsed bridge along Uzere/Asaba-Ase Road with the State Director of Highways, Ministry of Works, Asaba, Engr. Joshua Egube, following the directives of the Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa that immediate temporary measures be carried out on the bridge for it to be motorable again.
Having witnessed the handing over of the site to the contractor by the Director of Highways, Engr. Egube while advising that there must be immediate mobilisation to the site as directed by the Governor, added that it is expected that the remedial work on the bridge will be completed shortly.
“I wish to use this opportunity to immensely appreciate and profusely thanked His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, for his prompt response to ameliorate the plight of our people following the unfortunate collapse of the bridge”, he said.
