Gunmen attack police checkpoint in Enugu

A police checkpoint was on Friday Morning attacked by gunmen in Nsukka area of Enugu State
It was gathered that the incident occurred at Umeano Junction, Ibagwa-Ani, Nsukka LGA, leaving residents in panic.
According to an eyewitness, Reuben Eze; ”the unknown gunmen visited the police check point at Umeano junction, shot one police officer and set their vehicle ablaze. 
Eze said: “I was going to Nkwo Ibagwa when I heard a bang at the junction. Suddenly, the police men at the junction started running away and before you know it, their vehicle was set ablaze.”
He also disclosed to Town Crier News that ”there is virtually nobody on the road now even as today is Nkwo market day of the community.
When our reporter called the state police spokesman, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe for comments, his line could not go through probably as a result of network failure.
