Former Rivers Milad, Infomation Minister, Anthony Ukpo dies

Former Military Governor of Rivers State and one time Minister of Information and Culture, Brig-Gen Anthony Ukpo is Dead
According to a family source, Ukpo died at the age of 74 in his Asi Ukpo Calabar Hospital in the early hour of today, Monday after a brief illness.

He was born in  July 16, 1947.
Military Administrator (Milad) of Rivers State, August 1986 to July 1988.
He was also Minister of Information and Culture, all under the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) as Military President of Nigeria
Ukpo was born in Okpoma, Yala, in Northern Cross River State, and joinied the Army, where he rose through the rank to become a Brigadier General before his retirement.
He was a stunch Catholic.
