The Edo State Police Command said it has arrested five suspected cultist for allegedly engaging in street fisticuffs In Benin City, capital of Edo State.
Those arrested were Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, Samson Ochonobor, Friday Agbebayo and Julius Eguasa.
According to the police, the five suspects who were alleged to be members of Eiye Confraternity engaged themselves in street fighting at Ramat Park over failing to pay membership monthly dues and attending meeting of confraternity
The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwanbuzor, who confirmed the incident said the suspect were arrested for conspiracy and cultism.
Nwabuzor, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said the suspects identified as members of Eiye confraternity were caught fighting at Ramat Park, Benin City and were arrested by the operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cyber crime unit of the command on patrol.
According to the PPRO, during interrogation it was discovered that the suspect were members of Eiye confraternity.
He added, “It was also discovered that four of the suspects , Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, samson Ochonobo, Friday Abgebayo were beating Julius Eguasa for failing to attend their meetings and paying monthly dues to the confraternity”.
Chidi said the suspects are helping the police in investigations and that they will soon be charged to Court.
