Fire Incident in Portharcourt: Police Suspends Interrogation Till Lady Who Allegedly Set Fire to House That killed Her Boyfriend Now Pregnant for Him Delivers

The Rivers State Police Command said it’s aware and deeply concerned about a fire incident which circulated on social media platform, depicting a fire incident that killed one Saint Sunny Amadi.
In a statement by the command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the ugly incident occured at No. 11B Okoro Street, Choba, Port Harcourt.
According to police report, one Cynthia Chukwundah, a 300-level female undergraduate student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), allegedly set her boyfriend one Saint Sunny Amadi, a 32-year old male from Elibrada Community in Emohua local government area of the state, ablaze in a room, resulting to severe injuries during the inferno and was rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for medical treatment.
The police said upon receiving the report at about 11:12 hours, its detectives from Choba Division promptly visited the scene and the victim at the hospital, who was in critical condition but later died as result of the injuries while on admission.
The report also stated that the Police have located Cynthia, who is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital due to injuries she also sustained during the incident.
“She is also heavily pregnant with the deceased’s child. Due to her critical condition, she is unable to provide a detailed account of the incident, but will do so when her condition is stable.
“The probable cause of the fire incident is yet to be ascertained, and a thorough investigation has been launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further developments will be made public as more information becomes available.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, urges the public to remain calm, peaceful, and assured that justice will be served in this tragic incident”, the statement concluded.
