FCT UBEB refutes story on recruitment of teachers

The Executive Chairman, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Universal Basic Education Board (FCTUBEB) Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, on Friday in Abuja said the Board was not recruiting teachers for deployment to basic education institutions in the Territory.

Professor Mohammed said the reaction was in respect to a news story in some section of the media which said the Board was recruiting teachers.

He said that the Board has no financial capacity to engage additional teachers even as it would wish to do so due to gaps created over the years.

According to him, the need for teachers would be based on the increase in the number of students in FCT primary and junior secondary schools.

He said the Board was determined to ensure that the schools within its jurisdiction have enough quality teachers to enhance learning by pupils.

The FCT UBEB boss, therefore implored the public to disregard the story going round about recruitment of teachers by FCT UBEB.
