Ex-Nasarawa Deputy Governor Abducted by Gunmen

Tragedy has struck in Rinza village of Wamba local government area of Nasarawa state as some gunmen invaded the community and kidnapped the former deputy governor of the state,  Professor Onje Gye-Wado.

Before the recent incident, it was gathered that several attempts had previously been made to abduct him.

Professor Onje Gye-Wado, served as the former deputy governor of Nasarawa state under the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Adamu.

Gye-Wado was said to have been abducted few minutes before midnight on Thursday, March 7, when the alleged kidnappers broke into his home through the fence and whisked him away to an unknown location.

The Nasarawa State police command has assured that they will rescue Prof Gye-Wado and reunite him with his family.

A family source disclosed that the former deputy governor had escaped abduction thrice before he was kidnapped on the fourth attempt.

The family source said: “The wife came in for Easter, and they broke into the house through her widow and took her husband away. They called around 4am today Friday and threatened to kill him, without mentioning any amount.”
