Ex-Fela’s band member, oghene kologbo Dies @ 64

Oghene Kologbo, a stunch member of late Abami-Eda, and Afro beat king, Feels Anikulapo is dead, aged 64
Kologbo known popularly as “Warri” among other members of Kalakuta Republic passed away in his sleep in Paris, France. He was born in 1957.
The guitar legend was 16 years old when he joined Fela’s Afrika 70 in the 1970s. 
By 1972,’ according to Fela biographer Micheal Veal, “Afrika 70 had arguably developed into the most formidable rhythm machine in tropical Africa”. He went on to record more than 50 sides with the band. 
“He played the hypnotic tenor guitar lines, but often recorded bass and rhythm guitar too. He also acted as Fela’s Personal Assistant and “tape recorder” — it was his job to remember the melodies Fela, a night owl, would sing late at night, then teach them to the band at rehearsal the next day.”
