The Plateau Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has imposed a 24-houtcurfew on Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
The curfew was response to the escalating violence in the area following a recent attack on the village of Farin Lamba in Vwang area of Jos South LGA where Gunmen have reportedly killed eight persons including an eight-month old baby
The attack, Towncriernews gathered, occurred Sunday night.
The report was reported by the National Publicity Secretary of Beron Youth Movement, a socio-cultural group
According to Tengwong, “The Gunmen invaded the village at about 9:45pm on Sunday in a cat and shit sporadically at the victims.”
He said among the victims was an eight-month-old baby who was with his father returning from the hospital.
Prior to the latest attack, series of violent incidents have occured in the region, including the killing of nine people in Sabon Gari community, Mangu LGA.
The increasing violence has prompted concerns due to the loss of lives and the “massive destruction of farmlands, houses and other properties”, said Tengwong who praised the efforts of the Operation Save Haven operatives and the government’s deployment of additional security to the endangered areas.
