Edo North Seat: Oshiomole Humbles Incumbent Senator Alimikhena

The former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole has emerged as the Senator elect for Edo north senatorial district, defeating the incumbent Senator, Francis Alimikhena of the people’s Democratic party PDP .
Adams oshiomole who contested on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), scored 107,110 votes to emerge winner, while Alimikhena came distance second with 55,354 votes.
The former National Chairman of APC, scored the highest votes cast in the six Local Government Areas in the senatorial district was formaly declared by the returning officer, Prof. Buniyamin Adesina Ayinde at the Etsako west LGA council hall.
Senator Alimikhena who is seeking a third term in office defected to the PDP on the eve of his former party APC senatorial primaries thereby making Oshiomole the APC sole candidate.
The Labour Party candidate, Aslem Eragbe scored 15 923 to come third in the race.
A total of 10 political parties took part in the senatorial election.
