Edo Assembly Clears Attorney General Designate, Delays Cyril Oshiomhole’s Clearance

The Edo State House of Assembly has cleared Dr. Samson Raphael Osagie as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice designate.
However, the clearance of Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, son of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was delayed until the next plenary on Monday.
The move follows the appointment by the newly sworn in Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for the two commissioner nominees, which was read at the plenary by the Clerk of the House, Audu Yahaya Omogbai,
Speaker Rt. Hon. Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku emphasized Osagie’s cognitive experience, having served in various capacities including twice in the State House of Assembly and National Assembly.
Agbebaku said the decision to get him cleared is part of the privileges enjoyed by the former lawmaker who will now serve in the capacity of the Attorney General of the state.
The Assembly also passed a motion urging the state government and security services to address rising kidnappings, cultism, and related killings in Edo recently.
