Edo 2024: Oba of Benin Blesses Imansuangbon’s Guber Aspiration

Foremost governorship aspirant under the platform of Labour Party (APC), Mr. Kenneth Imansuangbon, on Tuesday had his gubernatorial aspiration, blessed by the Benin Monarch, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II.

The blessing came during a courtesy visit by Imansuangbon who was accompanied to the by a retinue of party supporter, friends and we’ll wisher to the palace of His Majesty, the Oba of Benin.

Blessing LP guber hopeful, the Oba asked the Almighty God and the ancestors of the land to help Imansuangbon overcome all obstacles, seen and unseen in his journey during the electioneering campaigns.

He told Imansuangbon to be steadfast by ensuring that he keeps to his electoral promises after victory as well as respect the traditional institution in the state for progress of Benin Kingdom.

On a lighter note, the Benin Monarch inquired from the LP governorship aspirant if he brought some bags of rice.

“I hope you brought some trailer loads rice? They can’t be calling you rice man without you bringing some trailer loads of rice to the palace so that we can also give out to our people in the kingdom”, the Oba teased

Earlier, Imansuangbon told the Benin Monarch that his aim of coming was to first of all, intimate the Oba of his ambition to contest the governorship election next year under the political platform of LP with the logo: “Papa, Mama, and Pikin.”

According to Imansuangbon who is called ‘Rice Man’, because of his yearly distribution of rice to the needy in the society, “I came to tell my father, His Majesty, the Oba of Benin by intention to contest the governorship election of our dear state, Edo, and to seek his royal blessing.”

He further stated, “Your Majesty, just before we came in, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the election time table for Edo governorship election, and I said it will be unwise for me to contest without tell you, as our father because your royal blessing is important to me. Oba ghato kpere, Isee!!! (Long May His Majesty Reign).
