Count me Out of Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council—Activist/Journalist, Tony Erha Urges Public

By Towncriernews

Ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, fiery journalist, human and environmental rights activist, Comrade Tony Erha, has called on the general public, to disregard the news making the rounds, that he had been made a member of the Publicity Committee of the governorship council of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Erha added that he was shocked by the torrents of inquiries, from his  biological family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers, over the said appointment.

This and others were stated in a press statement by Erha, released to the media in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

“I am not a member of the said APC neither am I of other political parties. Also, I have not subscribed to be a member of the said APC campaign committee nor was I contacted before the inclusion and widespread of my name in it’. The statement read.

Erha, a frontline pro-democracy activist and one of the National Conveners of the Labour and Civil Society Coalition (LASCO), said that he has learnt to maintain his sanity and refrains from hobnobbing with some of the “so-called leaders, who are swindlers that couldn’t carry out very simple exercises, like party nomination, yet move to force their persons on innocent voters of Edo State.

“However, my refusal of the appointment is not a serious indictment on the person of Senator Monday Okpebholo (a.k.a. Akpakomiza), nor his governorship candidacy that purportedly informed the setting up of the campaign council. I had met Senator Okpebholo in his person, and it is not in my character to doubt his professed commitment to be the governor of the state, while I hold him in high regards”, Erha stated.
