A Nigerian journalist, Majeed Dahiru, has posited that some critical causes of the Sudan war are also present in Nigeria.
In his interview, Dahiru who is also a political analyst while identifying the issues noted that they should be addressed in quickly before things deteriorate to thr level Sudan finds itself.
Addressing the topic, he said, “The overall issue is that the Nigerian government could have done more regarding intelligence gathering through the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
He added that the the crisis was foretold, and other countries acted fast in evacuating their citizens, knowing that it could be a prolonged civil war in Sudan.
According to him, “There are also lessons for Nigerians to learn from the Sudan war. Any country that is rife with tribalism and religious bigotry, as we have it in Nigeria, will likely end up like Sudan and Somalia.
“We must understand that the causes of the war in Somalia are present in Nigeria. We must learn from Sudan by healing our tribal and religious differences so as to prevent such a situation in Nigeria.”
