Armed soldiers early Monday morning launched an offensive against members of the Sudanese caretaker government, took the Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdoc into custody.
The soldiers according Reuters, stormed the residence of Hamdok and took him away.
It was gathered that in the latest coup, five ministers, including four military members and one civilian of the Transition Sovereignty Council (TSC) were also held.
The plot came barely after an attempted coup in the country which sparked worldwide condemnation last month. The chanced coup was blamed on soldiers loyal to Mr Bashir, who has been charged with war crimes.
With this latest one, there are fears of yet another prolong battle for a country long infest by political turmoil.
Hamdok assumed power in 2019 but the early Monday takeover of power came a day after protesters loyal to the military blocked entrances leading to the capital on Sunday.
Since the ouster of Omar al-Bashir two years ago, military and civilians have been sharing power.
