BOWFT Enters Semifinals Stage With Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons; Bayelsa Queens, Heartland Queens in Contention For Finals Tickets

The 2024 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), has entered its advance stage with four teams remaining for the semifinals battle set to hold tomorrow (Monday) after an explosive Quarter Final stage matches have finally been decided with the postponed Remo Ladies versus Nasarawa Amazons game concluded on Sunday morning.
Defending Champions Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa and Heartland Queens are the remaining clubs doing the battle for the finals tickets.
Nasarawa Amazons came from behind to beat Remo Ladies 2-1 in the game that started on Saturday afternoon but was forced to be put on hold as a result of the heavy rain that fell on Saturday afternoon at the University of Benin Sports Complex.
The match officials had to postpone the match at about 72 minutes of play due to the heavy downpour when the game stood at 1-1. The remaining part of the game was concluded on Sunday morning at the same venue with the Amazons progressing to the semifinals after a 2-1 victory over Remo Ladies
The defending Champions of the BOWFT and reigning premier league champions Edo Queens Football Club look good enough to retain the cup after thrashing Abia Angels 4-0 in the first quarter finals match at the University of Benin Sports Complex.
The Moses Aduku managed Edo Queens will be hosting Nasarawa Amazons in one of the semi final matches on Monday, October 14,2024 at the University of Benin Sports Kickoff time is 10:00AM.
Former champions Bayelsa Queens and Heartland Queens of Owerri will also be engaged in their semifinals battle at the same time at the Western Boys High School Mini stadium.
In the quarter finals match, Edo Queens prolific winger Chioma Moses scored twice, while Emem Essien and Folashade Ijamilusi made it four 4-0 for the WAFU-B Champions to reach the semifinals.
Bayelsa Queens’ victory over Benin based Fortress Ladies was delayed to the second half after a strong challenge by Benin side before ending it 2-0 to advance.
Heartland Queens on the other hand pipped Espoir FC of Benin Republic 1-0 to advance to the semifinals.
