Bishop Kukah: Election of African Catholic Pope is Not “Emilokan”

The Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah has said that those asking for a Catholic Pole of African descent may be making a tall demand.

Bishop Kukah who was one of those that visited the Vatican for the election of Pope Leo XIV, responded by saying “To Those Asking For Election Of African Pope, Should  Know It is Not Emilokan.

He further stressed that those demanding for the election of an African Pope should first win the World Cup.

His words: “Electing a Pope is not like that, it is not an ‘Emilokan’ where people claim it is their turn.
