His impeachment came few weeks to the end of tenure of the state 7th assembly
Details of the impeachment remain sketchy as a ranking member of the House from Abia North Senatorial district, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told newsmen, confirmed the action of the lawmakers on Tuesday, May 2.
The impeachment as gathered was carried out by 18 out of 27 members of the Assembly who sat at an undisclosed location.
According to a report by Punch, the motion for the impeachment of the Orji, was moved by Chukwudi Apugo (Umuahia East state constituency) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and was seconded by Okey Igwe (Umenneochi state constituency), also of the PDP.
Orji, representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, already lost his bid to represent the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency in the February 25 National Assembly election.
Also, the son of the former Governor Theodore Orji lost to the Labour Party candidate, Obi Aguocha.
However, operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have taken over the entrance gate of the Abia State House of Assembly at the time of filling this report apparently to maintain law and order.
