EFCC arrests igbinedion for diversion of N1.6b edo money

Former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, has been arrested by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) .

Igbinedion governed Edo State between 1999 – 2007.
Premium Times reports that the former governor it’s being interrogated at the EFCC’s Abuja headquarters for allegedly diverting N1.6 billion in public funds.

According the report,, a loan acquired by the Edo State government was transferred to a company in which he had a stake.

In 2008, Mr Igbinedion was charged by the EFCC and found guilty of embezzling N2.9 billion from Edo State.
