Edo Sports Commission Craves For Vibrant Squash Community, Assures State Squash Association of support

The Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele has said that the Commission under his leadership craves for a vibrant Squash Community in the state as he.assured the state Squash Association of support.

Hon Enabulele gave the assurance on Monday, March 17,2025 when he received a delegation of the Edo State Squash Association, led by the Chairman
Hon. Bar. Austin Atakpu, with Squash Head Coach Chukwu Lillian, Organizing Secretary Lovelyn Omoregie, and squash professionals Femi Shedara and Asade Samson who paid him a visit in his office.

He restated that he is committed to making all the sports associations in the state active and productive to ensure a boom.

“As we move forward, I am committed to supporting the Edo State Squash Association in our efforts to strengthen the game and create a vibrant squash community. Together, we can ensure that Edo State becomes a leading hub for squash in Nigeria”.
We have to explore opportunities for enhancing the game of squash in Edo State.

” We will continue to engage in an discussions about the current state of squash in the region, the challenges faced, and the opportunities available for growth and development. We want to encourage all the sports to be vibrant in such a way that Edo children will have enough opportunities and make their choices. It should not only be about football,other sports will be encouraged.” He stressed.

Speaking, the chairman, Edo State Squash Association Hon. Atakpu shared intimates the sports Commission boss with the plans and initiatives aimed at increasing participation in squash, particularly among young athletes.

He said that the Squash Association is happy to have Hon Amadin Enabulele as the Edo State Sports Commission chairman,noting that the open door policy and proactive approach of the chairman is a great asset for the Edo State Sports community.

He said that the grassroots athletes need improved facilities and resources to support training and competitions.

The high point of the meeting was the presentation of trophy and certificate of participation by
Edo professional squash player Femi Shedara who recently returned from the Uganda Open Squash Tournament, held at Rock Classic Hotel in Tororo-Uganda in February 2025.
