Imo Assembly Commends Gov Uzodimma on Reconstruction of Naze Timber Market Road

The Imo State House Of Assembly has commended the state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of Naze Timber Market Road, Owerri North State Constituency.

The commendation came in respect of a motion moved during Plenary on Tuesday at the floor of the House by the Member Representing Owerri North State Constituency, Hon. Kelechi Ofurum.

Moving the Motion at the floor of the House, Hon. Ofurum who is the Chief Sponsor of the motion, pointed out that Naze Timber Market Road is significant and important economic road that has many economic and social relevance, as the road popularly known as Ogbosisi connects two federal roads namely; Owerri – Umuahia Road and Owerri – Aba road respectively, leading to many locations and involved in various economic activities in the State.

Hon. Ofurum who is also the Deputy Chief Whip of the Imo 10th Assembly regretted that despite the unique importance of this road to the economy of Imo State, it was deprived of attention and left to decay by past administrations and turned to death traps, thereby increasing the suffering of the people.

The lawmaker further noted that this major road when completed will further attract development, save transport cost, enhance interconnectivity to major highways and make it much easier, faster and cheaper for traders to transport their goods and services to other parts of the state without much stress, and as well boost the state’s economy.

The  Motion which was seconded by Hon. Bernard Ozoemelam, Member Representing Ehime Mbano State Constituency, was co-sponsored by 10 lawmakers as follows;

In their respective contributions, the Honorable members commended Hon Kelechi Ofurum for raising the motion, while thanking the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of the road.

Having carefully listened to the contributions by Honorable Members, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, called for a voice vote and the motion was unanimously adopted by the House.

The House Resolved To Commend the Executive Governor Of Imo State, His Excellency, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma for construction of Naze Timber Market Road in Owerri North State Constituency, Imo State.

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to convey the resolutions of the House to His Excellency the Governor of Imo State before the House adjourned.
