Wedding Turns to Mourning As Suicide Bomber Attacks Wedding Venue in Borno

What ought to have been a joyous occasion on Saturday turned to mourning as a female suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at a wedding venue in Gwoza town, Borno State, killing unspecified wedding guests and injuring many others.

One of the survivors told Towncriernews that the bomber was carrying a baby on her back when she stormed the venue and detonated the IED.

The wedding was said to have held on at Tashan Mararaba near the Fire Service Station in Gwoza town.

As at press time the number of dead persons is yet to be ascertained but several of the injured persons are receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Gwoza including this source.

Security agencies are also yet to comment on the incident as efforts to reach the police proved futile.
