Cult War Claims More Victims in Edo

The raging cult war in Benin City, capital of Edo State between Aiye and Eiye Confraternities has claimed three more victims in the last forty-eight hours.

Two  persons believed to be members of the Aiye Confraternity were reportedly killed at the Ugbowo axis of the city  when gunmen stormed a building near the University of Benin.

The third victim, an elderly man identified simply as Mr. Paul Eto was allegedly  killed  in Aruobabekun village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

Our reporter gathered that Mr Paul Ero is a Juju Priest ( Medicine man) and a high ranking member of the Aiye Confraternity.

It is believed that he prepares charm for members of the confraternity each time during clashes between the rival cult groups.

It was further learnt that some persons, armed with gun, matchetes.and battle axe, had stormed his residence at Afuwa street by 3 (Three) house on the day he was murdered, demanding to see him.

They were said to have brutalized the occupants, including his son, Godspower Ero who was at home at the time.

The gunmen were said to have left a warning message, promising to come back for the deceased and other members of his family.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command had on September 20th, 2022, declared Godspower Ero wanted for cult related activities. 

The police said that Godspower Ero apart from being a member of the Eiye Confraternty, was also involved in homosexuality.
