ex-Governor Odili’s Daughter Made Commissioner for Health in Rivers

The daughter of former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, has been appointed Health Commissioner of the state.

She was sworn in Friday along with five other nominees name were submitted by the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara to the state House of Assembly.

Until her appointment, Dr. Adaeze Oreh is a family physician, public health specialist, and universal health care advocate.

She was recently promotion as a senior medical officer at the Department of Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Nigeria, and a Master’s degree in public health obtained in the UK.

Oreh I’d also an alumnus of the International Health Management at the Imperial College Business School of the Imperial College London.

Her areas of focus include healthcare strategy, healthcare financing, and organizational management. Oreh’s expertise and knowledge will be valuable in formulating policies that address maternal and child mortality rates, the transmission of infectious diseases through unsafe blood transfusions, and the equitable distribution of safely-screened blood to remote and conflict-affected communities.

Besides, she is also on the Governing Council of Pamo University of Medical Sciences, owned by her father.
