Tinubu to Wike: “I Owe You Nothing”

The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has told the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike that he owed him nothing.

Tinubu made the declaration in PortHarcourt, after commissioning a flyover bridge built by Wike on Wednesday.

Wike had extended an invitation to the president-elect, to inaugurate the Rumuokwuta/Rumuola flyover bridge in the state.

During the event, Wike revealed that his administration had erected 12 flyover bridges between 2019 and 2023. 

In his opinion, the bridges should have been implemented as federal government projects and anticipated that Tinubu will give Rivers State administration back the money used in carrying out the projects once he assumes the presidency.

However, responding to Wike’s appeal, Tinubu, on the other hand stated that he doesn’t owe him anything even as he praised Wike’s achievements as the state governor and added, “I have no obligation regarding the 12 flyovers and your request for reimbursement. Those are your roads, and you can’t make a demand of me because you are the one who uses them. I appreciate your work, but you’ll have to lobby me.”
