Police Authority Detain Three Officers Who Assaulted Man Driving on Rivers Highway

Three police officers caught molesting an innocent motorist while driving on the highway in Rivers State, have been arrested and currently detained

The police identified the officers as Inspector Adejoh Siaka; Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sgt. Ndiwa Kpuebari from Rivers State Command

A video of the assault which went viral on Monday elicited outrage from Nigerians.

In the viral video, the man who drove in a Toyota Corolla car was said to have stopped by the highway policemen. After a few moment of conversation, one of the officers used the long stick in his hand to hit the driver.

He defended himself and collected the stick. The officer however went further to slap him. All these were happening in the presence of the man’s wife who was still in the car.

The video of the incident made its way to social media and consequently caught the attention of the Force Headquarters.

Reacting to the incident, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the men who were involved in the harassment have been arrested.

Adejobi who disclosed the full identities of the officers involved on his verified twitter handle on Tuesday wrote: “Inspector Adejoh Siaka; Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sgt. Ndiwa Kpuebari from Rivers State. These are the men who slapped a man on the road in Rivers. They reported at the Force Headquarters today. Trial will soon commence. We will update you as soon as possible. Thanks.”
